Cabinet gives nod to Cinematograph Amendment Bill

Cabinet Ministers have given their nod to Cinematograph Amendment Bill. Indian films are censored according to Cinematograph Act 1952. This Amendment Bill will change the norms from that act. Cabinet has agreed to change those norms and place them in Amendment Bill. The bill will be put in front of MPs in Parliament. After Cabinet approval Cinematography Minister will bring it in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Minister Anurag Thakur informed this to press. He told that Cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi took this decision. He also told that this bill will bring changes to certification categories. Right now, Indian films are certified as U, U/A and A. Anurag Thakur stated that Cabinet has decided to bring changes according to the system followed in World Cinema by many countries.
