Telugu film producer Bunny Vasu has spoken out against a wave of fake reviews and low ratings aimed at his new horror movie Eesha, saying online ratings are being manipulated by a small group to damage the film’s reputation unfairly.

Eesha, starring Hebah Patel, opened in cinemas on 25 December, timed for the long holiday weekend. At a press event held on the first day of release, Bunny Vasu addressed critics and social media users who he believes are spreading negativity about the film before audiences have had a fair chance to judge it.

Bunny Vasu explained that some people are booking a small number of tickets — for example 200 or 300 — and then leaving very low ratings online immediately after the premiere shows. In his view, this skews the overall rating numbers and gives a false impression that the film is not being enjoyed by viewers. He said that such fake ratings can unfairly influence public perception, especially when genuine audience feedback should matter most.

The producer urged people not to put too much faith in spot ratings from the very earliest screenings, and to wait until more genuine viewers have seen the film and shared their honest opinions. He stressed that he respects all reviewers, but believes some small websites and accounts have been writing biased reviews that spread quickly online.

Bunny Vasu also pointed out that good films tend to gain higher ratings as more people watch them over time. Bunny Vasu said the horror movie, Eesha has strong advance bookings and that if the film is truly not good, its performance at the box office would naturally show that. His message was clear: the audience should be the final judge, and fake ratings should not be allowed to shape the film’s destiny unfairly.

The remarks have become a talking point in Telugu cinema circles, reflecting wider concerns about how online reviews and ratings can be manipulated to harm films before they fully reach the public.
