The Malayalam film Bramayugam has achieved a major milestone by winning four awards at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards, celebrating excellence in cinema across the state. The film’s success has been hailed as a proud moment for everyone involved, from the cast to the crew.
Directed and written by Rahul Sadasivan (known by his social media handle @rahul_madking), Bramayugam stars legendary actor Mammootty in a powerful and unconventional role. The dark fantasy-horror film captivated both audiences and critics earlier this year with its unique storytelling, striking visuals, and haunting music.
At the state awards ceremony, Bramayugam earned accolades for its remarkable direction, technical brilliance, and standout performances. Among the individual winners were Mammootty, who was praised for his commanding portrayal; Sidharth Bharathan, recognised for his significant contribution to the film; Christo Xavier, who composed the film’s gripping background score; and Ronex Xavier, honoured for his exceptional work in makeup and visual design.
The film was produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth under the banners of Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. The production team, along with representatives Suresh Chandra, Sabari, and Venu, expressed their gratitude to the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy for the recognition.
Speaking after the win, team members described the moment as a proud and emotional one, highlighting how Bramayugam pushed the boundaries of Malayalam cinema with its bold theme and innovative visuals. The film’s dark, folklore-inspired setting and gripping screenplay have also earned it a cult following among movie lovers.
The achievement reinforces Mammootty’s reputation as an actor who continues to reinvent himself, even after decades in the industry. Bramayugam’s victory at the State Awards is being seen as a celebration of creative risk-taking and artistic excellence in Malayalam cinema.
