Before entering the film industry, Praveena Paruchuri was a practicing doctor in the United States. However, her deep love for cinema led her to leave medicine behind and return to India. She made her mark in Tollywood as the producer and actor (playing Salima) in the critically acclaimed C/o Kancharapalem.
Following that, she also produced Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya. Now, Praveena is taking on a new role as a director with her debut film, Kothapalli Lo Okkadapudu, which is being presented by Rana Daggubati. The film is jointly produced by Paruchuri Gopala Krishna and Praveena herself and is set to release on 18th July.
The recently released trailer has received a positive response for its natural performances and realistic tone. During the trailer launch, Praveena shared how she worked hard to bring out the best from her actors. She revealed that two characters in the film are very crucial, and to make their scenes impactful, she pushed them hard—even yelling, throwing stones, and scolding them during shooting. She firmly said she had no regrets, as acting means truly “living” the role.
Praveena also spoke about the challenges of direction, saying it was far tougher than she expected. “There are a hundred questions running in your mind at once,” she said. Although filming was completed in just 33 days, the post-production phase was extremely difficult.
Despite her previous films not bringing in commercial success, Praveena is confident this project will change things. With strong storytelling and honest effort, she hopes Kothapalli Lo Okkadapudu will win hearts and finally bring her the success she deserves.
