Bichagadu became a huge blockbuster for Vijay Antony in Tamil and Telugu. The actor has been handling multiple departments along with acting. Bichagadu 2 or Pichaikkaran 2 is being released to give the actor huge success like the original. Vijay Antony has decided to write and direct the film, as well. The team released Anti Bikili theme and increased buzz for the film. Bichagadu 2 or Pichaikkaran 2 released on 19th May, 2023. Let’s discuss about the film.
Bichagadu 2 Plot:
Bichagadu had the plot of a huge businessman needing to become a Bichagadu or Pichaikkara for his mother. This time, Vijay Guruswamy(Vijay Antony), who has one lakh crores is planned to be killed. His friend Avinash(Dev Gill), Auditor(John Vijay) and Family Doctor(Hareesh Peradi) plan to kill him. They further try to find someone to do brain transplant of Vijay. They decide use that person and transfer all Vijay’s assets on their name. They find a Bichagadu or beggar, Sathya(Vijay Antony) with similar features.
Doctor performs Brain transplatation successfully, in Dubai. But Sathya happens to have a criminal history. He murdered a person for kidnapping his sister Rani at the age of 17. He has been registered as a Bichagadu or beggar in government records. The trio tries to use Sathya, who is too straight-forward and honest. Their attempts backfire and he kills them. Now, Sathya as Vijay decides to launch his Anti Bikili project. What is Anti Bikili? What is his project goal? Watch Bichagadu 2 to know more.
Bichagadu 2 Analysis:
Bichagadu 2 is not the sequel of Bichagadu film. It is another story that tries to use the name that Pichaikkaran or Bichagadu have earned. It tries to even use the same premise of a wealthy man as a beggar. But then the original worked greatly because of the emotion behind a businessman trying to stay as a beggar and leave everything behind.
The same emotion has been tried to be ignited with a story-line that follows sci-fi idea. The problem here is a wealthy man doesn’t change his heart but a poor man decides to use the fortune he accidentally inherited for public good. At idea level, Bichagadu felt something unique and novel. Bichagadu 2 seems to be an attempt to force it forward.
Vijay Antony has admitted to being a limited actor. Those limitations show in this film too. But his music and BGM have worked well for the movie. Bichagadu 2 suffers with Vijay Antony handling editing, direction and writing as well. While many actors like NTR, Krishna have handled multiple departments, but they always brought writers on board.
Vijay Antony did not have clear idea about how to take the story forward in the second hour. Still, the concept being about helping people and did out of noble intentions it feels slightly okay to watch. Kavya Thapar looked good on screen and rest of the ensemble performed well. Bichagadu 2 with a strong script could have been as good as Bichagadu. For now, it remains a movie made with noble intentions but becomes too preachy.
