Megastar Chiranjeevi is doing films one-after-another in his own amicable style. After Waltair Veerayya, he has come up with Bholaa Shankar. An almost forgotten director Meher Ramesh has directed Chiranjeevi in this Vedalam remake. AK Entertainments have produced the film. Keerthy Suresh, Tamannaah Bhatia have played female lead roles in Bholaa Shankar. Legendary music director Mani Sharma’s son Mahati Swara Sagar composed music for the film. Bholaa Shankar released all-over the world on 11th August, 2023. Let’s discuss about the movie.

Bholaa Shankar Analysis:
Megastar Chiranjeevi is not someone who needs introduction and his star power has been visible over the years. Bholaa Shankar is his new movie after a success like Waltair Veerayya. The actor is able to look at his fittest best in years in the film. He tried to his best to entertain audiences with his energy and comic timing. But his efforts are not matched by the script. Bholaa Shankar suffers due to the lack of effort from writers to make the scenes more enjoyable. None of the scenes give Chiranjeevi scope to land them perfectly with his impeccable comic timing.

Keerthy Suresh, Tamannaah Bhatia did not get enough material to leave an impression. Meher Ramesh could not give Keerthy Suresh enough to showcase her talent. Even few scenes that do present an opportunity have been handled in a rather amateurish way. Blocking, Staging and writing look completely artificial. Bholaa Shankar tries hard to be quintessential Megastar Chiranjeevi film from 90’s. Hence, it appears completely outdated and weak. Movie also suffers with scenes that have no real weight in terms of entertainment. They just look as if some small kid tried to write “comedy” and “sentiment”. Nothing sticks, nothing lands and nothing works.
Meher Ramesh has been unable to make good use of the opportunities came his way. Once again, he showcased with his Bholaa Shankar that he still did not learn from past mistakes. A remake need not absolutely be similar from frame to frame. It needs some changes to fit with the star’s image and also setting needs some modifications to include character moments. Ajith has been a family hero before becoming a mass action star and hence, the blend had to be in a certain way for him. Siva played on his strengths with Ajith in full form carrying an old subject with his sheer presence and performance. Bholaa Shankar lacked in popular music, funny scenes and moments that make it a Chiranjeevi film. On the whole, we can say that the movie is a complete misfire.
Bholaa Shankar Positives:
Megastar Chiranjeevi stylish looks
Production values
One fight sequence
Bholaa Shankar Negatives:
Cringe-worthy comedy
Sreemukhi – Chiranjeevi Scenes
Lethargic Writing
Music
Yawn-inducing drag in second half
Bholaa Shankar Bottom-line: Nothing Works
