Producer Vijay Paul Reddy Adidala is bringing a new Telugu film, Barbarik, to the audience on 29 August. The film has been made on a large scale under the Vanara Celluloid banner, with star director Maruthi presenting it. Mohan Srivatsa has directed the project, which features veteran actor Sathyaraj, Udayabhanu, Vasishta N Simha, Satyam Rajesh and Sanchi Rai in lead roles.
Speaking about the film, producer Vijay Paul Reddy said he was deeply impressed when he first heard the story. “I was busy with my business, but when Mohan garu narrated the story, it caught my attention immediately. Initially, we thought of a small budget, but with the support of Maruthi and the demands of the story, we decided to scale it up. Maruthi garu clearly said to make the film well or not do it at all, so we never compromised on quality,” he shared.
The producer explained that the film carries a strong mythological angle, which makes it different. He also revealed that premieres in Warangal and Vijayawada received emotional responses, with some viewers even moved to tears. “That reaction showed us the value of our hard work,” he said.
Vijay Paul Reddy noted that every character in the film has importance. “Sathyaraj garu will be seen in a role he has never done before. He agreed in the very first sitting. Udayabhanu also got a powerful role, which will open new opportunities for her in her second innings. Satyam Rajesh, Vasishta and Sanchi Rai also impressed in their parts,” he added.
The release date was shifted from 22 August to 29 August as theatres were occupied with big films like War 2 and Coolie. With the support of Mythri Movie Makers, the film is now ready for a massive release. Ticket prices have been capped under ₹150 to make it family-friendly.
The producer recalled a moment from a Warangal premiere: “A couple watched the film for free but later came back to pay us. That moment gave me true satisfaction. Barbarik offers both entertainment and a good message,” he concluded.
