“A hero was born.” These were the words of producer Bandla Ganesh when actor Vijay Deverakonda entered the world of cinema. Speaking at the success meet of Little Hearts, Ganesh recalled how he had predicted Vijay’s future in films on the very day he was born.
Ganesh shared that he and Vijay’s father, Govardhan Rao, were once roommates. “For three days, he didn’t turn up. When I asked him why, he said his son was born. I immediately asked, ‘So, has a hero been born?’ Whatever I say in life, it comes true. I am an emotional person,” Ganesh said.
Fans and cinema lovers are now pointing out how his words came true, as Vijay Deverakonda has grown into one of Tollywood’s most loved stars.
Vijay began his journey with small roles before making his mark as a lead actor. Known for his natural style of acting, he has delivered several blockbusters and earned the title of a “sensational hero.” Although his recent films have not performed as expected, his popularity has not faded. Today, he continues to work with top production houses on big-budget projects.
Vijay’s father, Govardhan Rao, belongs to a village in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district. His love for cinema brought him to Hyderabad long before Vijay’s birth. He dreamed of acting but eventually turned to directing, entertaining audiences with television serials on Doordarshan and other channels.
Though Govardhan Rao did not become a film hero himself, his sons have fulfilled that dream. Both Vijay and his younger brother Anand Deverakonda have established themselves as actors, each with a growing following.
