Baahubali to return this October in a 3‑hour theatrical edit

Baahubali

The iconic Telugu film Baahubali is returning to theatres nearly a decade after its release. First released in 2015, Bahubali set a new benchmark for Indian cinema and became a true pan-India success. Its sequel, Baahubali 2, released in 2017, grossed over ₹1,800 crore worldwide and became a global phenomenon.

As the franchise completes 10 years in theatres by July 2025, the film team recently reunited to celebrate the milestone. On this occasion, the makers announced a special re-release of the combined two parts on 31 October 2025. However, fans raised concerns about the total runtime.

Together, the two films run for over 5 hours and 27 minutes, with Part 1 lasting 2 hours 38 minutes and Part 2 running for 2 hours 48 minutes. This extended length led to discussions online, with viewers questioning whether audiences would sit through such a long screening again—especially for a story they already know.

The team responded, comparing it to watching a full IPL match, but the comparison didn’t convince everyone. Many argued that while cricket has suspense until the last over, Baahubali is already familiar.

Now, the makers are reportedly considering trimming the film to a more manageable 3 to 3.5 hours. They are said to be planning to include only key scenes to retain the film’s essence while ensuring it appeals to today’s audience.

A final decision on the new runtime is expected soon. Fans remain excited about revisiting the Bahubali experience, especially in a tighter, more engaging format.
