Title changes are uncommon in Indian cinema, but in Bollywood, numerology often plays a key role. The latest example is the upcoming film featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films, the movie was originally titled Taama. However, the makers have now added an extra “M”, renaming it Taamma. According to Bollywood media reports, the change was made following numerological advice.

Speculation also links the new title to the blockbuster Stree 2, which was released earlier this year under the same Maddock Films banner. The tagline of Taamma — “O Stree… Kal Nahin, Parso Aa Rahi Hai” — hints at a connection. Since the film belongs to the horror-comedy genre, similar to Stree 2, the makers are hoping for the same kind of box office success.

The reports further suggest that Shraddha Kapoor’s association with Stree may have influenced the decision, with sentiment and superstition guiding the title change.

Stree 2, which released with moderate expectations, went on to earn over ₹800 crore worldwide, setting a new benchmark for the genre. Now, Maddock Films is said to be aiming to repeat that success with Taamma.

The film has already completed shooting and is set for a Diwali release. Promotional material, including posters and teasers, has received strong responses, with Rashmika Mandanna’s role drawing special attention from fans. The buzz around the project has grown even bigger following the title change, and trade circles are keen to see if the numerology gamble pays off.

Ayushmann and Rashmika appear together in Taamma, a pairing that has created huge buzz among audiences.
