Anushka Shetty is still facing the after-effects of her bold decision to gain weight for the film Size Zero. What was meant to be a brave move for authenticity has instead left her battling health issues, career challenges and criticism over her changed appearance.

After the massive success of Baahubali: The Beginning, Anushka took on Size Zero, directed by Prakash Kovelamudi. The story revolved around an overweight woman’s struggles with love and marriage. Instead of using prosthetics like most actors, Anushka chose to put on real weight. While she managed the transformation, returning to her original shape proved far more difficult.

Years of dieting and training could not bring her back to her earlier look. This affected not only her health but also her career. During Baahubali: The Conclusion, visual effects had to be used in scenes to recreate her slimmer appearance. Later films like Nishabdham and Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty also showed an unnatural look, and Anushka avoided promotional events.

The problem continued with her latest release Ghati. Fans noticed that her appearance was inconsistent and that several scenes relied on graphics. Her absence from the film’s promotions added to speculation that she is uncomfortable showing her current look in public.

Industry observers now say the “curse of Size Zero” still follows Anushka Shetty. The physical transformation she undertook for the film ended up damaging her career more than helping it. Producers worry about the risks of casting her in major projects, especially after the mixed response to Ghati.

For Anushka, what began as a dedication to realism has become a burden. The struggle to regain her old self continues, highlighting the dangerous cost of extreme body transformations in cinema.
