Senior actress Raasi, who started acting at the age of six as a child artist, later became a popular heroine in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam films. In the 1990s, she was one of the leading stars of South Indian cinema. Recently, she has been seen in television serials. Now, in a new interview, Raasi opened up about her love story for the first time, leaving many surprised.
Raasi shared that she met her husband, Srinivas, when she was working in a film with actor Rajendra Prasad. Srinivas was an assistant director on the set. She recalled a particular scene in which Srinivas became emotional and cried. This, she said, made her think he was a sensitive man who would care deeply for his family.
Their friendship began on set, where Raasi often teased him. One day, after making him cry a lot, she decided to apologise. She asked for his phone number and, during the call, jokingly asked, “Will you marry me?” Srinivas, thinking it was a joke, immediately said yes. When she repeated the proposal more seriously, he was shocked but eventually agreed.
When Raasi told her family, everyone was surprised, though her mother later accepted their decision. Within just a month of meeting, the couple got married in a simple ceremony at home, without any grand celebrations.
She also shared some funny memories from their early days. Once, while she was waiting for her staff during a shoot, Srinivas came over with a script. But when she checked, she realised the scene did not even have her dialogues, which left her puzzled. Later, when they became closer, he admitted he only came because he wanted to see her up close as a heroine.
Raasi’s revelation has now gone viral on social media. Fans are calling her story “like a movie”, amazed that the actress herself proposed to an assistant director and married him within a month.
