Hostilities between Iran-Israel have intensified, with fresh attacks reported on both sides. On Monday, Israel confirmed it was targeted by a series of missiles launched from Iran. Warning sirens echoed across the country, and residents were urged to stay indoors. In Jerusalem, locals described hearing powerful explosions. Iranian news sources claimed a facility in Ashdod was struck, although Israeli officials have not yet verified this.
In retaliation, Israel announced strikes on six airports within Iran, covering areas in the west, east, and centre of the country. The move was part of what Israeli forces described as a defensive counteraction, according to reports from Reuters.
A bold statement came from Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari, who directly addressed former US President Donald Trump, saying, “You may light the spark, but we will decide how this ends.”
As international concern grows, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reaffirmed the alliance’s firm stance,Iran-Israel, against Iran’s nuclear development. Speaking before a summit in The Hague, Rutte said, “Iran must never possess nuclear arms,” stressing that the nation should comply with its global commitments. He also criticised Iran’s involvement in the ongoing war in Ukraine, pointing to its supply of drones used in attacks on civilians.
At a UN Security Council meeting, Iran’s representative, Amir Saeid Iravani, warned Washington about deeper involvement in the conflict. He said Iran’s military would determine an appropriate reaction to recent American airstrikes on its nuclear infrastructure. Iravani also accused Israel’s leadership of influencing US decisions and drawing the country into unnecessary conflict.
US intelligence has raised concerns that Tehran could launch further strikes on American forces stationed in the region within the coming days.
