Indian Navy has successfully rescued wessel MV Lila Norfolk from Somalian Pirates. Merchant MV Lila Norfolk has given out distress signal near Somalia has few unidentified armed men boarded the ship near Somalia. As the Ship given distress signal in maritime, Indian Navy has deployed INS Chennai warship and partrol aircrafts and drones to rescue crew onbaord.
Out of 21 crew members, 15 of them are Indians. Hence, Indian Navy deployed best warship to save them at the earliest in North Arabian Sea. Indian Navy in a press release stated, “INS Chennai diverted from her Anti Piracy patrol and intercepted the MV at 1515hrs today, on 5th Jan.
” MV was kept under continuous surveillance using Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Predator MQ9B and integral helos. The Indian Navy Marine Commandos present onboard the Mission Deployed warship boarded the MV and have commenced the Sanitisation.”
The operation has been successful and Indian Navy has completed Sanitisation on the wessel in the evening time. By the time, MARCOS entered the ship, Pirates have ran away from the ship. Navy has stated that they have successfully foiled the hijacking mission of the pirates.
