The festive bonus season has been bringing cheer to all the employees and this time it is the turn of Union Government employees. Central Government has approved the proposal for increasing Dearness Allowance by 4% for all government employees and pensioners.
With this the DA increases to 38% of the basic pay to all the employees and pensioners. PM Narendra Modi and Union ministers have agreed to this proposal even though government has increased DA by 3% early in the year.
Back then, Government paid three months in arrears to all the employees from 1st January of 2022. They have announced this decision in March. Now, in September, the government has taken a decision to further hike DA by 4%, in the wake of price raises and long term pandemic effects.
Well, this hike will cost Central Government an extra Rs.12,852.26 crores per year and for this financial year of 2022-23, it will cost Rs.8,568.36 crores. These incentives bring the festive mood early, don’t they?
